Chicago Floortime Families understands the difficulty of our journey as parents of special-needs children. Often we feel overwhelmed and helpless. By coming together we will help parents find the tools they need to bring their children out of isolation.

Our Mission is to empower and support parents by providing information and resources that enable families to be successful with the DIR® approach. We will build a community of parents that are joined together and create ways to move forward.

You and your family are not alone. We encourage you to reach out to the Floortime Families that make up our community, to share your knowledge and experiences with us, and to provide us with feedback that will help us to fulfill our mission. Welcome!

1) Parents come first. We understand that we are the ticket to our kids' success. Therapists, psychologists, family and friends may provide guidance and support, but ultimately, we are the jost critical link to the success of all our children. Therefore, all our content and initiatives will be geared toward helping parents to work with their children, to advocate for their needs, and to be strong voices in the DIR community.

2) We believe that, while education is the key to understanding the myriad of choices out there, we also understand that each parent's choices will be distinct, guided by their own heart and values, as well as the needs of their unique children.

3) We are neither doctors, nor psychologists, nor clinicians of any discipline. All our ideas and information either comes from our hearts, experiences, or from what we've learned along the way. Please filter everything through your own decision-making process. If it speaks to your heart, helps you to move forward when you are stuck, or provides inspiration for you to get through another day, that is our goal. As your own experiences grow, we hope you, too, will share them on our website so we are able to provide a depth of information that can only be obtained through a united but diverse community.
