About Us

We are a small group of moms with children who have been diagnosed on the autistic spectrum. We all work with the DIR/Floortime methodology with our children and we would like to build a community for those doing floortime with their children – to provide education and support, and to share ideas. I live in Northwest Indiana with my husband of 8 years, Rob. Nathan is currently solid up to level 3 and can get as high as level 6 when regulated. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom, I also run a web development company from my home. We are family of Disney and Harry Potter Fanatics as well as waterpark enthusiasts! When I'm not on the computer or playing with Nathan, I enjoy reading all types of literature and listening to music.

Melodie - AdministratorChild's Name: Aaron Age: 5 Years Practicing Floortime: 2 years We live in the far south suburbs of Chicago and we are currently working on levels 1, 2 & 3. Aaron sometimes can get as high as level 4 when well regulated. We are working on extending back and forth communication (in Level 3). I am a single mom who works full time. I admit to constantly obsessing about Aaron's language and play skills. I've seen a lot of positive changes since using floor time. I've learned the hard way to slow down - burn out is helpful to no one, especially to Aaron. Favorite Quote: It's a cinch by the inch but hard by the yard. ![]() Ruth - Administrator
Child's Name: Matthew
Other Children: Joseph and Benjamin Ages: 6, 6, and 8 Years Practicing Floortime: 4 I live in the western suburbs with my husband, Dan. Matthew is currently working on levels 4-6 which, for us, includes problem-solving everyday issues and conflicts, learning to recognize, handle and respond appropriately to negative feelings, and learning how to not do whatever we want, whenever we want! I feel like the whole house is at this level and we get LOTS of practice. When I'm not "teaching" the peace at my house, I enjoy a relaxing manny/peddy, trying to get back into shape, and buying trendy but cheap items at TJ Maxx. Favorite Quote: While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about. ![]() Tamara - Administrator

We live on Chicago's Northside. I am a 30 year old single mom. We are currently working on levels 4-6 and often reaching much higher levels. What does this translate to? Working on sequencing, answering and asking questions, problem solving, playing out/telling stories with a beginning-middle-end. When I am not "on the floor" you can find me making art, rockin' out and giving politicians a piece of my mind.
